That psalm is a part of a canticle we used to sing in church but the words/translation is a little different. I really like it. Is that your forhead with the ashes cross on it?
For you do not take delight in sacrifice - otherwise I would give it, In whole burnt offering you do not find pleasure. The sacrifices to God are a broken spirit, A heart broken and crushed, O God, you will not despise. (verses 16 & 17)
A lovely psalm reminding us of God's ability to restore us and give us salvation.

I'd much rather be here on Ash Wednesday than New Orleans on Fat Tuesday! I haven't been to Mass yet, but soon I'll go to get my blessing!

Amen.
Aloha!
The Psalmist's words go well with the imposition of ashes.
A good photo worth a thousand words.
Blessings to you in this Lenten season, dear Katney.
