Recent Snap Shots

We haven't got out much lately, unless you count multiple doctor visits. In fact, I took this snapshot in the parking lot on one. These little sunlight activated gadgets intrigue me.

Do you think they realize how this sounds?

I have missed doing the last two Sundays' Psalms and I will hopefully get back to that in the next couple of weeks. But I have missed doing Odd Shots for even longer. That I will not get back to as a regular any time soon, but I could not resist these odd signs.

At least they were odd to me. These were taken through the car window so the quality leaves something to be desired, but you can't but wonder if they realize how silly this sounds...
All two?????

And then there is this one.
Yep, I need some cash so I think I will sell some gold. I will take it to the place with the cheapest prices in town........................

This Headbanger's Flowers

Wildflowers are my favorites, but right now at home I have the first of my roses blooming.

And today's showers left a reflecting pond of this batch of --you know, I don't even know what those are that grow beside my driveway. And in my driveway. They are not something I remember planting.
I will make my header, though, from the city itself. A week or two ago I stopped to get a shot of the hanging baskets on the city truck as they were being distributed around the business district. These and some huge pots on the corners really spruce up the downtown.

What flowers will the rest of the Headbangers team present for this week's challenge? You can check from my sidebar by midafternoon Wednesday.

Sunday's Psalm--Solemnity of the Ascension

Happy Mothers Day

So himself made a reservation for dinner this evening at Whistlin Jack's, which is about an hour and a half to an hour and three quarters drive from here up into the pass. Lovely place, quiet, cool, foresty, sounded a Mothers Day treat.

So after thinking a bit, I asked him this morning why he made the reservation so late (6:30--we usually eat about 5:30 and on Sundays we don't do lunch, so it seemed late. Plus since he is on restriction for driving for a couple of days, all the driving is on me--the Mother.)

I though we would go hiking through Boulder Cave in the afternoon and do some exploring.

Er.....

You aren't allowed to drive, carry anything over five pounds, or climb stairs and you think you are hiking through Boulder Cave?

I think not.

I thought all the kids had grown up and moved out!

The WJ's reservation is cancelled, a local reservation made for dinner, and we are going to the movies to keep cool.

Does Jesus live there?

The other evening the phone rang, down in the office at church during classes. It doesn't ring often. I usually use my cell phone and many parents have the number. They call me with questions about schedules from time to time, and no one has abused it.

On the office phone I answered "Religious Ed Office".

It was someone from Sears about an order ready to pick up. She apparently didn't hear my answer. I told her she had the wrong number, but she was not convinced.

"Does someone named Jesus live there?" (We have a large Hispanic population in the area and Jesus (pronounced hey sús) is a common name in the Hispanic community.)

. . .

I don't think on my feet well. I set her to finding her customer in some other way. But which of the following would have been the best answer?

"Yes, but he can't come to the phone."

"Well, it is the church, what do you think?"

I've had some other good ones since but have forgotten them. I will add them if they come to me. Can you think of any good ones?

Header Challenge-- Spring Colors

I was thinking of spring flowers
when Lew suggested
 "Spring Colors"
as the theme for the headbangers
challenge this week.

Either the onc sthat grace our doorstep each spring till the winds demolish them.

Or some of the ones I had a choice of in the market.
But today we took our lunch to the park and found several families already dining there.

So I decided the spring colors I would feature would be fluffy yellow and gray.
After their meal they went for a swim. Too cold for me still.
You can find the other headbangers linked on my sidebar. Stop by and visit them for their spring colors by Wednesday afternoon.
