Photo Hunt--Theme: What IS That?

See TnChick for more about Photo Hunt.
The theme this week is:
What IS that?
~
Well, obviously it is a movie poster for a Mel Gibson movie.
Do you know which movie?
~
~
Think back about ten years.
~
~
~
~
~
Did you guess?

If you clicked to enlarge were you able to identify any of the other posters?
~
~
~
~
Now how about this one?

" МАЛЛЕТ ЏОУ "spells out Muppet Show, but I don't know what the rest is.
~
~
~
This was also showing when we were in Russia in 1998: ТІТАНИК.
(I hope I spelled that right.)

Very cool entry! And no, I wasn't able to correctly guess the title... guess that I'm just not a big enough fan of Mel Gibson! ;b

This is very clever! Love it all!

I have been trying to post my link on the Photo Hunt posting, but for some reason it simply won't register! I notice yours is not there either! Very strange!

Great ideas for the theme. I should have guessed both correctly but I didn't. Happy weekend.

this is a great take on the theme, no I did not know what it was

Interesting! Great mementos from your trip. Does your son live in Russia or did he move back here to WA? My apartment building has a number of Russian people and I am hoping one day that we can learn some Russian and they will learn some English. We will see.

Ransom was one of the earliest videos we saw even before we left the island. Stephen loathes it yet I think it is Gibson's best outside of Anzacs TV series.
Good twist though.

I GOT IT! I GOT IT!

Only because eldest son had it and we all watched, but I got it anyway!

Sorry for going on, but I'm usually useless at this sort of thing.

Fascinating post!

Great post! Very unique.

You might do a Google for hide icons on taskbar for your volume control issue, if you haven't resolved it yet.

I wouldn't have been able to read any of it, that's for sure!

I knew it was the one where his son got kidnapped but couldn't remember the title.

You've been to Russia? Wow.

Hey, I just finished watching this movie, so I knew which one it was! :)

Great shot. Happy Hunting. Mine is up here.

That's a great brain teaser!

These are too cool. How funny to look at something familiar and still wonder, 'what is that?'

Thanks for dropping by for a visit! My photo hunt is up now.

Very interesting entry. One of the bloggers I read used to be based in Russia and sometimes wrote blog posts in Russian. A very interesting visual language.

Very nice idea for the theme. No I didn't guess!

Great entry! I would never have guessed the movie! I loved the Muppets one also.

What a great take on the theme; something that should be familiar, but isn't because of a change in language or culture.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Claudia said...

Fun to see the posters written in different languages!

Cath said...

It's fascinating to see familiar items in other languages. A brilliant post - learning lots along the way.
I didn't get it - it's not one I've seen (alas). And I couldn't guess which Muppet Show it is. The only one I can hazard a guess on is the last one which is more obvious! lol

I'm not a big movie person so I wasn't able to identify the posters, but it certainly is a novel take on the theme :)

Came here again, looking for your Odd Shot.

Will check first thing tomorrow ....
