Bridges between...

Bridging the seasons on a hiking trail bridge.

~

In December this bridge on the Trail of the Shadows at Longmire in Mt. Rainier National Park was deep in snow.

We crossed it on snowshoes to get to the Rampart Ridge Trail.

In May, much of the snow had melted out, but not all.

No snow here on the first of July--though there was plenty of snow to be had at elevations only slightly higher.

That snow look very inviting about now! 97 degrees at 1100 am! Love the photos! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have had a crazy weekend. I really apreciate you support and readership of my place.

A bridge for all seasons! Great pictures. Obviously a place you know quite well.

That is one kind of photography and telling I like: showing the effect of changing of the season, weather, light and other conditions on nature. Very often one would not believe that the structure shown is the same.

A very nice bridge indeed.

What an interesting comparison! Beautiful photos of a wonderful place. When you are at lower elevations, it is hard to think about people seeing snow in July even high up in the mountains. I remember crossing the mountains to go to Yakima one year in June and being amazed to stop and have a snowball fight. Not something I see back home in Indiana :-)

I think that would make a good picture book for kids. You should consider authoring such a book with photos included as illustrations. OF COURSE, I loved seeing the snow! I never regretted not learning how to drive until recently I realized all the wonderful places I could have driven to for a hike! Have I told you how much I love snow? That's a great bridges between seasons. Come and see my bridge between generations.

God I love Rainier. I haven't been up there in a while. I have been wanting to go back for quiet some time now.
I thought most of the trails were closed in the winter.
Maybe next weekend, I can get up there and see a few waterfalls and get up to the Carbon Glacier.
Those photos are worth a million words.
