Odd Shots in the snow

Odd Shots on Monday will be one year old next month. It has been fun selecting something odd from the week before, or from our files when nothing odd arises during the week. And how often does that happen? It would be an odd week indeed when nothing odd shows up, even though we can'talways get a shot of it.
~
Remember to leave a comment here so we can find your odd shot, and as always, the details are linked at the Odd Shot camera in the sidebar with a blogroll of those who regularly participate.
~
As shown the other day, we met quite a bit of snow when we visited our kids in Spokane over New Year's. Their house is on an outcropping that is quite a bit above the street, so some of what looks like a wall of snow in the shoveling pictures the other day is snow on top of the huge rock bluff. It was still a lot of snow.
~
I have posted shots looking down on the street from their window before. It is the window where my grandson observes and reports on buses, fire trucks, and at this time of year, especially the snow plows. Since they have already received a season's worth of snow in the last three weeks, those plows are awfully busy, and what they throw up to the side piles up.
~
So it seems odd from this vantage point to see this sign, as the snow in that special lane has to be at least three feet deep.
Brrr! What a ride that would be!
~
Here is my suggestion for a replacement sign.
Oh, I just noticed that, despite being shot in color, the only color in this whole post is the carrot in my snowman's nose. I think that qualifies this as a Monochrome--check out other Monochromes at Monochrome Mania. Thanks Aileni for reintroducing us to the B&W and sepia tradition.

Brrr is eXactly right! What a fun odd shot. Love your proposed snowman sign. Can you believe it's snowing here AGAIN? Nearly 4" have fallen this evening, but it's not supposed to stick around as long this time. We'll see...

Congrats on the one-year bloggiversary of Odd Shots. I joined in shortly after you started and have thoroughly enjoyed playing along. ThanX for hosting!

I liked that one - maybe one should sometimes use seasonal signs?

First, Happy New Year Katney!

Secondly, I have been playing along with & enjoying Odd Shots these past few months, but not commenting, as been keeping a low profile after removing my blog 'Behind Kyanites Door' & starting a new.
However, please count me in again for 2009.

Best Wishes
Blue

PS
Sorry - Forgot to say, your sign did make me smile.
We're having our first few flakes of snow here this Winter as I type!

Love your signs! The bike one certainly seems very ironic and out of place in the winter! If only signs could adjust appropriately to the weather/seasons!

It is right that from a diffferent angle a normal image can look so odd and mean something totlayy different. It looks so cold.

love your sign Katney. & wow! that is a lot of snow! Thanks for hosting odd shots. I don't always seem to find one every week, but I think I just need to work on my imagination because I really enjoy participating. Thanks again.

With the snow we have just outside now it's brr, really !
It's already one year odd shot ? I came here already at 9 am but nothing was up yet of course you are at least 6 h behind us and still sleeping. Afterwards I forgot !

PS Why don't you put a Mr. Linky on your Odd Post shot, it would be much easier to visit the others. It's free.

That's a lot of snow. Great photo. Hard to believe Odd Shots has already been around a year. Mondays lately have been a blur so I forget to play along but always enjoy it when I do.

That's a great find! I love signs that look out of place. I didn't get a chance to visit yesterday, but I'm catching up now - at least, I hope so!
I can't believe it's almost a year of Odd Shots already - how time flies.

Thanks for the cross-link, Katney. The top shot comes over as mono also.
Everyone seems snowed in so I count us lucky, it might be cold but it has been dry since 18th.Dec.

Great odd shot! When I was in graduate school, I rode my bike the couple of miles to class and work, so my wife could have the car. Tried it one day with about 6 inches of snow. Going straight was okay, but at the first turn the bike went straight. So I put it back on the porch and walked. Thanks for reminding me about Balderdash. We have played it somewhere, probably with Marianne's sisters and nieces. Word games, card games or trivial pursuit are usually part of any family get together.
