ABC Wednesday--O is for...

What a sweetie! Wonder who she is.

Coat to the left--Hat to the right.

Headed to Camp.
Not sure who is driving at Grandpa(hubby)'s Grandpa's place of business.

Just a few friends at Grandpa's Dad's place of business.  He's wearing the tartan tie.
This is ABC Wednesday--O---Old Photos from my hubby's family.

I love old photos. The way people posed in their best clothes, the way they look. Great choice!

Hi Katney

Oh how I love old photographs. I have hundreds of them from both sides of my family and from the town where I grew up. What great pictures. Ties you to your roots.

Wonderful. It's amazing to look at the 'older' photos and imagine what life was really like. You're lucky to have them.

I hadn't seen the "Carnation Inn" name before, only "Carnation Club". Perhaps he renamed after Prohibition -- changed from a Club to an Inn when he didn't have to be as careful about who he served.

Here's a small ad from a 1943 issue of "Police and Peace Officers Journal". 1943 was the final year that the business was listed in the city directory.

The Police and Peace Officers were his friends---even before the end of prohibition. Survival!!

Seen anything in your searches about your great-grandfather's construction business?

I should have noticed that there was a Thomas L. Sharman (carpenter, married to Matilda) living at the same address as grandpa (3 blocks from the Carnation Club) in 1924. Now that I have his name and know he was in SF, I will see what I can find.

Man, the world just wasn't nearly as bright and colorful back then as it is now, was it?

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday Team, Thanks for participating this week. Hope you can join us again next week.
