Whatever can this mean?

It has come to my attention that I must be old.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a call from one of the teachers in our religious ed program last evening. When we had figured out the answer to her question as best we could, she suddenly said, "By the way, how's Chris?"
Huh?
She had finally figured out that I was this mother. She had not had much chance to talk to him at their 20th class reunion this summer, as he had to leave so he could fly to Japan the next morning.
Sigh!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And last week, in one of the classes the teacher had recruited a new helper. It was the very grown up classmate of my youngest son.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I posted to find a walking partner who was also training for the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk, I found someone in my local area. When we met, she said, "By the way, we know each other. Karen and I were close friends in high school--how's she doing?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another of the volunteers in our religious ed program is married to one of our Cub Scouts. Another of our Cub Scouts fixed my car a couple of months ago--a repair that would have cost a bundle at the dealership and he sure did a good job.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And then, every once in a while, I run into one of my first graders. Usually doing something like managing a local business.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Old.

Definitely Old.

Aw, come on, we're just well loved and seasoned.

I completely understand how you feel. I run into students in the grocery store and they have graduated high school already! Yikes!

What nice connections/memories tho! I would love to see some of the kids I taught all grown up now. . .

It's having a doctor, a dentist and the president, all younger than me. That makes me feel old.

To that kind of question I always say: It beats the alternative!

Re you comment: The school was what you would have called a high school. The caretaker's quarters were on the outskirts pf the area - until his services were "outsourced". That is - not done.

Only in years! Not in real life!
