A bit of Alaska--1

This is one of the things I love about Alaska. There in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska with something like 280,000 people, you can drive out by the airport and have to yield to airplanes.

Alaska has more private pilots than any other state (and the second smallest population). The reason, of course, is that there are so many places in the state that you can't get to otherwise.

So right out there near the Anchorage International Airport is this lake.

Where all the float planes land. Do you call it land when it is on floats? In the winter, they switch the floats for skis--really. There is a place where you can see the floats and skis stored out of season.

And there by the lake they park. Most have docks and little sheds for equipment where they tie up.

I knew a friend who was a Pastor that had his mission flying around Alaska. He is now retired and a member at our church. I think it is really neat.

WELCOME HOME!
