Bog Gentian grows in damp areas in August. We found it when we hiked to Berkely Park.
Glacier Lilies are found in the early season in the meadows--as soon as the snow starts to melt.
I think this is Gray's Lovage, growing in the dry rocky areas of the tundra.
The Golden Mantle Squirrel looks like the chipmunk, but is bigger and does not have stripes on his face.
Do Mountain Goats travel in herds or flocks? Whichever it is, it is a treat to see them in the high meadows.
These early days of almost spring leave me with mixed feelings. What? no more snowshoeing?/Gee, let's plan a hike! We will probably get a few more snowshoe hikes in before the snow is gone in the mountains. And last summer we shoveled snow from some of the trail bridges on the Fourth of July.

Hi Katney,
This is a wonderfull G Theme for ABC wednesday, wow! And its imppressive that you know all the Latin names, the first flower "bog Gentian" (Crocus?)is blossoming here in February already, can you imagine how much the temperature differs from your countrie...:)
Greetings from JoAnn/Holland
Visit my G for ABC wednesday
Wonderful!
Love that squirrel in particular! LOL!
Beautiful G`s! :)
I LOVE how you find flowers for ABC...I am not a gardener but this is very nice.
Just beautiful G's you have. I love photo nr 4:)
Oh Katney .. so many clever Gs! Some of them I had never seen before ..
Loved your G's. I'll have to remember to join your odd shots on monday
Joan's Digital Eyes, the Bog Gentian is its common name--I don't know the Latin names, and I think I am doing pretty well to remember the common names when I have looked them up. It is not a crocus, though it does nave a similar shape. I think those around here who have crocus growing are starting to see their shoots. The Bog Gentian we found at an elevation of around 6000 feet (some 2000 meters).
Neva, these are all wild flowers we found while hiking the trails of Mt. Rainier. I am afraid if I posted garden flowers you would see about two kinds every seek, though I am hoping to do better this year.
Wow.... Great G post! I LOVE Goats!!
Katney, this is a Grand Group of shots - Great for G. I love them.

Have a nice day.

You found plenty of nice G's to post. Good ones too.
Wow... you get high enough to see mountain goats on your hikes...I'm gonna say herds for goats. I only see them from a distance and high on a mountain crag .. usually while driving through mountains.
I wish we got enough snow here to snowshoe!
Enjoyed seeing the pics

I really like learning about the plants and the squirrel. I'll be keeping an eye out for them now.

I loved the pictures of the wildflowers and explanations about them. The squirrel is cute. The funny thing is that a squirrel was my oldest daughter's college mascot at an all girl's college.
That squirrel you captured is so cute. Goats love Grazing on the Grass. I've been thinking about planting some wildflowers. It's that time of the season.
Yeah let's hike it up. :) Looks lovely!
