Sunday's Psalm--Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD;
let us acclaim the rock of our salvation.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us joyfully sing psalms to him.

  If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Come, let us bow down in worship;
let us kneel before the LORD who made us.
For he is our God,
and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides.

  If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Oh, that today you would hear his voice:
"Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,
as in the day of Massah in the desert,

Where your fathers tempted me;
they tested me though they had seen my works."
If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

«Louis» loves this:
"If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts."

St. Mary's Cathedral San Francisco used to have an extraordinarily fine Cantor who wrote his own arrangement of this. Now, more than 20 years later, «Louis» can bring this setting to mind in times of trouble. The memory of that setting of the Psalm can take «Louis» to a pew in Saint Mary's, awash in the sun filtering through the stained glass, the comforting smell of incense floating in the air.

«Louis» thanks you for this fine example of this Psalm.

Excellent words...harden not your hearts...and they go together so well with some words from Psalm 46...be still and know that I am God...I like how it all fit together for this week's challenge!
