Cabin Fever set in and we took a drive up into the Horse Heaven Hills to have a look at our world from a different angle the other day.
It's Tuesday, and bloggers from around the world are showing us a piece of it today. You can find links to their posts here.
Once we got to the brow of the hill, we stopped at the overlook. A sign there gave some background.
Prosser is one of the towns near us and out County Seat. (Although we live in Benton County, our nearest town and our address are in Yakima County, shich causes some occasional confusion.)Looking closer, you can see a good view of the Yakima River and the expanse of farms of its valley.
You can see here how different blocks of crops can look like a patchwork. That block of green may have started as a Christmas tree farm. I can't imagine anything else that would be that solidly green at this time of year. The clouds shadow another section.
The bare orchard makes a fascinating pattern.
Looking to the west on a clear day, Mt. Adams would dominate the horizon and Mt. Rainier would be seen in the distance. Not on this day. But the big white water tower visible in the mid-right of this shot is the one about a mile from our home...
...that we used to see like this from our yard until the hopyard went in across our road.

Fantastic photos! Love that patch of vivid green! We do live in a beautiful part of the world even in winter, don't we? Hope you have a great week!
