These two shots of our car's thermometer were taken at the same time of day just a few days apart--from Saturday August 1 to Thursday August 6.
What a difference a few days make in the weather patterns around here! Usually during the summer, we have a week or two of temperatures that range from 95º F. to 105º. During those weeks we spend a lot of time looking for the cool. Movies, the mountains, the mall.
This summer we had a week or so of hot weather in late June, and then after a very brief respite about three weeks that rarely got below 100º. We were trully surprised to drive back down into the Valley after a trip to the mountains to find the weather totally different from the previous day--the previous three weeks.
One thing about it, though, it did wonders for the roses. these are at the Yakima Arboretum, but the ones in my yard are as gorgeous, as well as our own city's Rose Garden.
This one was so unusual in coloring.
A perfect bud.

Yes, it has cooled of a bit here as well. I want it to cool down more but some cool down is better than none... such interesting rose colors, that's for sure... love 'em!
The roses are gorgeous! Mine love the hot weather.
We had rain today for the first time in almost two months! Light sprinkle that you almost did't even know it was raining. Hour later a light rain shower that watered the streets. Cooled us off a whole bunch even tho it hadn't been 109 for two weeks. . .
Thanks for the name of the flower on my blog..
That is an amazing temperature difference. Beautiful, amazing roses.
Roses have always been my favourite flower. They are such a beautiful flower and their perfume is beyond perfection.

What a great rose garden. I can just smell the flowers. Wonderful memories are brought back. Thanks for sharing.
Cooler weather brings out the colour in the roses, The 'Double Delight' is particularly nice.
