'shrooms

There were some long views on today's hike, but the close up fascination was the 'shrooms.

September hikes yield a derth of wildflowers. There were a few--mountain asters, arnica, a little bit of fireweed, and another that I haven't seen and identified. This lack is made up for by the abundance of mushrooms. All sorts of mushrooms.

We hiked up the trail to Frying Pan Creek. We did not make it all the way to Summerland. My knees would not have made it back.

Wow...I see lots of different species of mushroom around. Some are poisonous right?

Let's just say I get my mushrooms for cooking purposes at the supermarket.

Do not eat wild mushrooms unless you have positively identified them. there are experts who know which are edible and which are deadly. Don't take chances.

Some are pretty, some are ugly, but they are all interesting in their uniqueness.

I agree about getting your mushrooms at the supermarket! Great photos of many different kinds tho. Must have been a fun walk. I wish I lived closer to you to hike with you!
