Why is this odd?
I don't know if the street is new--perhaps newness is relative.
We found this street sign in Edinburgh, Scotland just off the Royal Mile.
The history of the Royal Mile goes back to the Middle Ages.
So I think this new street is probably pretty old.

I like the way the stones are set == they all resemble "blocks" with the motar being the streets.
"New" is definitely a relative term. The New River flowing north from North Carolina through Virginia and West Virginia to the Ohio River is said to be the oldest in North America
Ah, we have a NEW street too.
