Theres gotta be a--another--story

...but this time I leave you to speculate.
So, what is this boot doing on this fencepost in Imnaha, Oregon?

Just a little more about Imnaha:
*the population is 12. (About 180 if you count surrounding ranches.) (statistic is from 2003)

*Heather posted an alternative version of the bank robber story from my previous post as a comment there. Heather is an innkeeper in Joseph, and next time we visit the area, if we aren't pulling our tiny trailer, I think we will be visiting her. I am quite sure she will be able to fill in any other details, and invite her to add to anything further that I post about the area. Wallowa Valley residents are proud of the Valley and its history. (They even stop you on the street to tell you about it.)

*Imnaha has a community celebration the third Saturday of September and one of the big features is a bear and rattlesnake feast.

*The name Imnaha comes from combining the name of a chief from the area -- Imna -- and the added form -- ha -- which means rules here. So the meaning of the town's name is "place where Chief Imnah rules(ruled)".

Isn't that enough to answer the "You went where? Why?" question for any adventurer?

Just in case you thought this was an isolated boot--maybe lost and posted (yeah, dumb pun!) on the fence so its owner could reclaim it, all the fenceposts along this small property have boots.

You can see a couple of them here, though I could probably have gotten a better picture if I had tried harder. If you do a search for boots on fenceposts you will find lots of other instances of the practice--some extending for miles and miles--and some explanations I won't publish here.

Warm enough?

Check the Odd Shot details by clicking the Odd Shot Camera in the side bar. (This one won't take you anywhere.)
Some people get little sweaters or jackets for their pets, and others think it's kind of odd.

But here is what our Little Guy Trailer got for Christmas--a new jacket.

It may seem odd--but since we don't have a garage, it is a good way to keep the finish protected over the winter.
And then, we are a bit odd anyway.
Maybe next time I should post a picture of us--the odd couple.

Travel Day

After some of this... a bit of this...
and this...

quite a bit of this...

and this...

and eventually some of this...

...we arrived in Moab, Utah and set up camp in the dark. The camp host came by and things seem good to go. We will see what it looks like in the morning.
.
And then we can really start our adventure.

Odd Shots on Monday--Out of Proportion

This is the home of Odd Shots. You can post a comment on this Odd Shot to let others know you are in the game. All the details are just a click away at the Odd Shots camera logo in the side bar.

We have traveled quite a bit this summer in with our new Little Guy trailer. Wherever we go, it gets attention--and all of it positive except for one redneck who was laughing at its size as he pulled away in his gas guzzler. (Ha, ha! We will laugh when we meet you at the pump.)
~
But when we pull into a rest area to stretch our legs, visit the facilities, and switch drivers, we now have to park in the trucks and trailers section. Every time I see our rig it looks so oddly tiny next to the semis and huge RVs.

But I laugh and remember, "why spend more when you can have less?"
~
I am actually gone again as this posts. It seems almost as if we were hummingbirds this summer--never lighting at any time for long. We will be back later today. There are still more adventures ahead--but not till later in the week. I wonder what oddity I will find...

Odd Shots on Monday--have I told you about...

Odd Shots is hosted here. To participate, leave a comment so others will know you are here. I am away for a bit so will not get the blogroll updated till my return. Odd Shot details can be found by clicking the logo in the sidebar.
~
This is my hubby visiting while waiting to pay for our meal in the snack bar at Sunrise. Looks like he is telling one of his old stories to some of his best buds, right?

We had ordered our meal, and I sat down at a table to wait. He stayed in line to pay at the cashier, and they were a bit slow on that end. While he was waiting, I was watching, and these gentlemen were in line behind him. He had never seen them before, and will likely never see them again.
~
He told them all about volunteering at the Park, the hikes we had taken, and all about camping in our Little Guy Trailer.
~
Now this is not the oddest Odd Shot I have ever taken, but it made me laugh. You see, I actually (don't laugh at this, it's true) am a very shy person. My husband is the opposite. He can strike up a conversation with anyone any time.

Obviously.

Sunset--Sunrise at Goose Lake

I know that seems backwards, but it is the sequence of events here.

Once we had set up camp at Goose Lake State Park on the Califonia/Oregon border (or was it the Oregon/California border--LOL--the park was in Oregon, but if you cross the road you were in California). Anyway, once we set up camp we set off to look at the lake, and this is the sight we saw.

We got back to our campsite just in time for another entertaining (NOT) thunder and lightning storm and a good night's sleep in our Little Guy. We were greeted in the early morning by this view looking east.

The thunder and lightning was not nearly as disturbing as the storm described here, as it only lasted an hour or so and we were cozily bunked up in our Little Guy and did not have the grandchildren in tents nearby. Besides, much of the lightning was not followed by audible thunder, and that which was had a very good count of seconds between. None of this CRASH/ONETWO/BOOM stuff!

This is my skywatch for Friday, July 25. I am still on the road. I finally found the Sky Watch icon and got it to post. And here is the address for the new SkyWatch blog where you will find other skywatchers.

The Little Guy Trailer Tour

A while back I promised you a tour of our Little Guy Trailer. I think I showed you this picture of the trailer when we brought it home. You notice that we pull it with our PT Cruiser. That shows how light it is, as the Cruiser is a 4-cylinder car--not a monster machine. This is not the smallest model of the Little Guy. They have two that can be towed by a motorcycle--one that is only for storage, and the other that you can sleep in.
We wanted to make our Little Guy our own, so I painted this image of our favorite place to take it on the hatch...
...based on this photo I took last November when we hiked the Naches Loop Trail at the top of Chinook Pass.
I put this flannel quilt over our sleeping bags, but it was way warmer than necessary. We put hooks in to hang the lanterns, as we both read in bed. (There are lights in the trailer if you are hooked up to the car electric, but we generally unhook the power when we get set up at camp.)
We keep the flashlights handy on the cupboard doors. There are two cupboard doors in the bedroom, and our feet fit... ...under the kitchen counter, which you can see here under the hatch. We added the paper towel rack, and the drawers and some other equipment have a velcro dot to hold them in place while we travel. There is storage space under the counter as well where we keep a folding table and a few other things. We set up the folding table for our camp stove. Inside for a nap, here is a peek out the roof vent.
Don't they just look right for each other? You can see the table with the camp stove just behind the trailer. That is where it fit best at this campsite. Usually we set it up in an L pattern. None of these pictures shows the storage rack on the front of the trailer where we keep a container with our camping supplies, but you could haul your bicycles there. A Little Guy is not for everyone, but it is just right for us. We don't have to pitch and unpitch the tent, blow up the mattress--everything is ready to just pack up the groceries, hook up and go.

..goes where it's told to...

This came home yesterday...

...and it says it will do this...

...so it will go there tomorrow.

More after the weekend.

(Photo Hunt, Camera Critters, and Odd Shots will appear on schedule. Remember, it's magic.)
