Group Portrait

Since we are spending some time with family in Arizona again, you might think that I could get some great group portrait shots. I have. But most of them don't seem to work for the header.

This one doesn't crop for the shape I prefer for my headers. And the garbage cans....
I obviously didn't take this one.

I probably could use this one. Great smiles!
My Arizona girls. What are you doing Patty?
And graduation isn't till tonight.

I came prepare with some pictures from my files.

This is the group picture I didn't get into in India. My fear of heights--well, it can be high as long as it isn't there at the edge of the cliff...
I took this one of some random strangers while taking a photo class. I've always liked it.
This one from our trip to Siberia has a back story. My husband, our interpreter, and the Assistant District Director discussing mosquito control.

Our hiking group in Scotland. Don't know how those university students put up with us old folks.
Does someone look familiar?
I am going to use this one that I took after First Communion. I had taken the group photo for the parish archives and stepped aside for parents, siblings,  and godparents to have a turn.

I believe it was Craver who proposed the theme of Group Portrait. A link to his blog and to the other headbangers will be found near the top of my sidebar. I wonder what they have managed.

ABC Wednesday F is for...

.F is for Forests
Eucalyptus forest in India

Diversity is the mark of the Old Growth Forest at Ohanapecosh, Mt. Rainier National Park, WA

This could be my favorite forest view, the Taiga forest stretches across Siberia with mostly birch and pine. This was right outside where we were staying and a large copy of the picture hangs above my desk.

Forest of Caledonian Pines we hiked through on the way to Ben Dampf in Scotland.
Who needs cruise excursions when you can go on a hike in the forest above Skagway?
They may call it a "Woods", but Muir Woods is part of the Redwood forest in California.

Trees are sparse in the bristlecone forest at Great Basin National Park in Nevada. Bristlecone Pines only grow above 10,000 feet.

Twenty-nine years later, the boys check out what Mt. St. Helens did to the forest when it erupted in 1980.

Favorite Fotos of 2008 - #14

December has been pretty sparse photographically for me. At least there are not so many to choose from.

Favorite Fotos of 2008 - #11

I just came to the realization that I will have to post daily favorites groupings to finish by the end of the year. So here comes the rest of September.

...starting with the best shots from our week at Ohanapecosh.

It was definitely mushroom season.
This is part of a series as I watched Ranger Julia take a position explaining the significance of the twin trees. Others joined her for the view, and this young man found it all quite interesting.
The weather, the light, were perfect all week until the last day--something I can't say of all our mountian trips this summer.
The month wound up with the Central Washington State Fair.

Favorite Fotos of 2008 -#10--Skywatch

The skies this week just have not offered up anyting for me except for snow, snow, and more snow. They have been full of snow, fog, and dull gray clouds. So here are some skies from one of my favorite photo shoots of the year, the Prosser Balloon Rally in September.

These favorites from September were taken during the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk in Seattle.
