Up against it, and having forgotten all the great ideas I had come up with recently, and without a clue what I would do with it myself, I quickly said STRINGS. So what am I going to do with "Strings"? I am sure the other members of our challenge, known among ourselves as Headbangers and linked in my sidebar were wondering the same thing. (I've got to start making a list when those great them ideas come to me.)
On our trip north to visit the Quilt Barn trail we passed this orchard, and I stopped to take a couple of pictures of the trees trained on strings. I have been this way before, but didn't remember this. There aren't any orchards in our area done this way, though I did see some strung straight up.
The strings don't show up that well. |
You know how you go by something every day and see right through it?
This is the hopyard across the street from our house.
For the last couple of weeks, the work in the hopyards is stringing the trellises.
The hop plants climb these strings--this view will be solid green this summer. Harvest starts in August. This yard was harvested in late September last year.
These are summer pictures from my files.

Our view of Mount Adams changed considerably when the hopyard was put in .

Great showing of skies through your strings Kathy, neat idea.
Loved all these Kathy, and I thought Strings was a good choice... nice to see the hops, I'm sure both me and Imac have gone through many of theses.. and still do. :O) Loved the Sunset through the strings.
I thought you might visit the hop fields again for this one! The amount of string in your header is impressive!
I get a kick out of the middle pic with a blue sky as a backdrop behind the complexity of the strings.
I like your strings! and I have heard of people growing hops, now I know what it looks like.
Wow Kathy, that certainly is a lot of strings.
The hopyard sunset shot is brilliant. It's so neat you found many different ways to shoot this unique area. Love them all!
