45

Gail gave us the theme of Tattoo. I will pass on this theme for two reasons.

1. I have nothing--absolutely nothing--that I can post. I thought I might have a pic of my son-in-law's Ironman tattoo, but not. I thought oh, the tattoo as the drummers. But nothing. If I had known in time I would have taken a picture of the beat beat beat of the heartbeat--also called a tattoo--on the monitors while hubby was in the hospital. I won't send him back to the hospital just for a picture.

Visit the other headbangers from the links in my sidebar to see how they have handled this one.

2. Our 45th wedding anniversary is Sunday. So.........
 And here we are flanked by the good examples--60 years and 55 years--till death...
Why did we have our wedding photos printed on such weird paper? It doesn't scan well. We should have kept that in mind 45 years ago.

Sunday's Psalm--Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might.

The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

The eyes of all look hopefully to you,
and you give them their food in due season;
you open your hand
and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

The LORD is just in all his ways
and holy in all his works.
The LORD is near to all who call upon him,
to all who call upon him in truth.

The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

Headbangers--Sunrise/Sunset

 Our Headbanger's theme this week is Sunrise/Sunset--your choice. Tom chose it. You will find the Headbangers all listed in my sidebar.

I expect that we will see some pretty spectacular sunrise and or sunset pictures in the Headbangers group--we've had some pretty nice ones lately here.

The wondrous thing about Sunrises and sunsets is that God gives you a new one of each every day. Some are glorious like some days are. Some are simple with a bit of a tinge of color and then it's gone till the morning for  a new sunrise. Sometimes the beauty of sunrise or the sunset is hidden by storm clouds.

Life is kind of like that.

 Right now we are watching the storm clouds of illness hide some of the beauties of our days. Some days are a burst of brilliance and others are a burst of despair. We are hanging in there, working and watching for the next glorious sunrise or sunset in this thing called life.

This is probably my favorite sunset picture, taken two years ago on the Olympic Peninsula at Kalaloch Beach when we went to participate in  Coastal Clean-Up day. I think I like it because it combines the wondrous with the ordinary--if the ordinary bond between man and dog can be called ordinary.

Sunday's Psalm--16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Lord is my shepherd;
 there is nothing I shall want.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

In verdant pastures he gives me repose;

beside restful waters he leads me;

he refreshes my soul.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

He guides me in right paths for his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
with your rod and your staff that give me courage.

  The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

You spread the table before me

in the sight of my foes;

you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Only goodness and kindness follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
for years to come.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want

Texting

I do believe that texting is the realm of the young, but someone older than myself has convinced me that it is a good way to get a message out to a group.

So I set out this morning to let the kids know that their Dad was in the hospital for a couple of days--doing well--not to worry.

I managed to enter the five numbers from my contact list.

Step one complete.

I started the message: "Dad in icu."

I accidentally hit send.

Oops!

Once again I started through the contact list. Text comes in from DD#1.

I got the next part of the message typed in explaining that I had hit send too soon.

Text comes in from DD#2.

I finally  got that word that looked like pnptq6dd changed to postponed and about to hit send again and DS#2 calls. Message goes to draft.

After talking to DS#2 I  find the message in draft and hit send.

Did you know that you are supposed to keep the phone open when you do that?

Called DS#2 and asked him if he got it. Yes, well, part of it. No, most of it. All but half of the last word.

Does that mean that the others got that much or did some get all and others get none? since DS#2 was in the middle of the list, he offered to forward it to the others.

DD#3's text came in later when she was on her lunch break. DS#1 may look at his phone sometime tonight, but for all I know he is somewhere obscure on a business trip.

Since we do not have unlimited text on our contract, if one message sent to several people counts as several messages, I have done some very expensive messaging this week. Well, not as much as that kid in Texas who sent a couple thousand texts in a month. Or some of the I-got-him-a-cell-phone-on-my-account cases on People's Court who are suing for the texting fees he ran up.

I have to check into that.

Headbanger dilemma

To play or not to play? That is the question!

My computer is toast. Not totally fried, but apparently the video card is. I cannot see backgrounds, some of my games, and my header. So I am going on faith that I have set it up in such a way that my title fits neatly into the scheme of things. I adjust it each week so that it does not obliterate some important part of the theme image proper.

Doing that without being able to see it is problematical.

For some reason, I can see the header images of the other headbangers--whos blogs are linked in my sidebar. Why is that, do you think? They must be doing something I am not. I have asked.

In the meantime, here is the image that I have posted in my header for the theme "Fashion" which was presented us by Chris (Gailsman).
 This is the fashion for the men of the wedding party in Edinburgh, Scotland.

What did you wear to your wedding?

 Now, a request: Please let me know if my header works. If the title runs into the groomsmen's heads or anything else is bizarre that I can fix. (I can't really fix the fact that I have no actual fashion images.)

Sunday's Psalm--15th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Lord, let us see your kindness,
and grant us your salvation.

I will hear what God proclaims;
the LORD --for he proclaims peace.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
glory dwelling in our land.

Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.

Truth shall spring out of the earth,and justice shall look down from heaven.

Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

The LORD himself will give his benefits;
our land shall yield its increase.

Justice shall walk before him,
and prepare the way of his steps.

Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.

Headbangers--in a Flower

Health or Wealth or Happiness - in a Flower

This is what IMac gave us for this week's Headbanger Challenge.

Nothing like making it easy? Eh?

A single perfect golden rose. Does it for me.

See what the others manage. Especially what Mac has up his sleeve with this conundrum of a theme. Their links are in my sidebar.

Sunday's Psalm--14th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for his mercy.

To you I lift up my eyes
who are enthroned in heaven --
As the eyes of servants
are on the hands of their masters.

Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for his mercy.
As the eyes of a maid
are on the hands of her mistress,
So are our eyes on the LORD, our God,
till he have pity on us.

Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for his mercy.

Have pity on us,
O LORD,
have pity on us,
for we are more
than sated with contempt;
our souls
are more than sated
with the mockery
of the arrogant,
with the contempt
of the proud.

Our eyes are fixed on the Lord,
pleading for his mercy.

Headbangers--My theme--It's a Small World!

When I sent this theme along to the headbangers I had just been hiking in Idaho when we had come across this anthill. The boys were fascinated by it. When we got the picture up on the computer screen, we could see that it was the ant nursery. The ants were very busy moving the babies around. Click on the picture to enlarge and see them even more closely.
Then I got home and thought about other tiny worlds I had photographed and went looking for some of them.
The tiniest of mushrooms.

 Moss spores
 Emerging Fiddlehead Ferns
 Lunch
And settled on the attack of the aphids.
But in the end I realized that no matter how many small worlds I find,
we are small in a very large world.
Take a look at the other headbangers and see what they have made of this small world. You will find their links in my sidebar.

Sunday's Psalm--Thirteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

I will extol you, O LORD, for you drew me clear

and did not let my enemies rejoice over me.

O LORD, you brought me up from the netherworld;

you preserved me from among those going down into the pit.

I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

Sing praise to the LORD, you his faithful ones,
and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger lasts but a moment;
a lifetime, his good will.
At nightfall, weeping enters in,
but with the dawn, rejoicing.
I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

Hear, O LORD, and have pity on me;

O LORD, be my helper.

You changed my mourning into dancing;

 O LORD, my God, forever will I give you thanks.

I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.
